Food and drink: Sonora, Sovana to open; Nick Filet expands; Naming beers and a Mr. Celery brew; Burger month at Iron Hill

Sonora Restaurant and Bar is shooting for a mid-May opening, according to a Facebook post.

The restaurant in the Brookside neighborhood outside Newark was the first location of beer-focused Two Stones, which opened its restaurant and headquarters in Ogletown, near Interstate 95.

Two Stones has grown into a six-restaurant group, with its own brewery in Delaware County, PA.

Sonora operated for a time at the David Finney Inn in old New Castle. It featured an eclectic menu ranging from chateaubriand for two to chicken and waffles.

Sovana opening May 19

The highly regarded Sovana Bistro near Kennett Square, PA has announced it will open to the public on May 19.

Sovana has been closed since early 2020 after a fire heavily damaged the building, with the pandemic following a few months later.

The restaurant and staff received an outpouring of support following the fire.
